State Representative Dave Prestin, a Republican from Cedar River, expressed his frustration with House Democrats after two votes failed on the House floor. The House, with an even split of 54 Democrats and 54 Republicans, has been unable to pass legislation due to the Democrats' refusal to negotiate with Republicans.

According to Rep. Prestin, the Democrat Caucus is divided into two parties. On the House floor, they complain about the lack of bipartisanship, but behind the scenes, they are pushing through their radical agenda without any consideration for Republican input. He specifically pointed out the House Natural Resources committee, which is attempting to strip legislative oversight over state departments that impose burdensome requirements on communities. They are considering granting the Department of Energy, Great Lakes, and Energy the power to make laws without legislative oversight.

Rep. Prestin voted against the legislation because the speaker of the House broke a promise made last fall to pass bipartisan legislation in exchange for votes. Despite handshakes and agreements, the speaker has failed to fulfill his end of the bargain. Rep. Prestin emphasized that the political games need to end, and Republicans are ready to work in a bipartisan manner if Democrats are willing to collaborate on important issues.

The House Democrats' refusal to negotiate with Republicans and their unilateral push for their agenda has led to a gridlock in the legislative process. With both parties evenly split, it is crucial for both sides to work together to find common ground and pass legislation that benefits the American people.

It remains to be seen whether the Democrats will heed Rep. Prestin's call for collaboration and put an end to the political gamesmanship. The future of the House and its ability to pass meaningful legislation hangs in the balance.
